# Fluxlevel and Maximum Operating Level (MOL) Calculator

Welcome to our Fluxlevel Page.
This page will help you to determine the highest fluxivity you can use with different types of Tape and it will make it easier to calculate a particular level with the use of a Test Tape other than 180 nW/m according to the tables below. The two most important terms used are:

Operating Level

How this Table Works

 Select your Testtape Fluxlevel of the Tape you own or intend to buy in the left column, than read the results under the OPL (Operating Level) you want to use. The OPL is determined by the Maximum Output Level or MOL of the Tape you are using! The OPL can be equall or less than the MOL. Most People use MOL as OPL. Required that your equipment can handle the higher OPL's. Most TEAC's Playback and Record Amplifier's are to weak to handle anything beyond +3dB (250nWb/m) max. i.e. You want to use:

1) All MOL's are at 1 KHz with 1% distortion at the 3rd harmonic.
2) The glue in these Tapes disolves (breaksdown) as the result of humidity! The result is a huge built up of Tape residue on all Guideposts, capstan, heads etc. in short anything what comes in contact with the Tape, anytime when the Tape is played . The Tape will slow down and will come to a complete stand still. You will have to clean all parts with Alcohol and/or Acetone. You will have to "Bake the Tape" in order to play it back one last time. After that it can go in the trash!!!!!! Do not buy anymore of these Tapes!!!!
